Why your sentiment score is probably 50

Neutral is the normal result, not a bug — and here is what would change it.

Last updated 2026-07-30

Sentiment runs 0 to 100, where 50 is neutral. Most brands sit at or near 50 most of the time, and that is the expected result rather than a broken measurement.

AI assistants answering a product question write in a flat, comparative register: "X is popular for small teams; Y offers more integrations." That is neutral by construction. Assistants are also tuned to avoid strong claims about companies.

When it does move

Sentiment shifts when the sources the assistant is drawing on carry an opinion — a critical review, a widely-discussed outage, an unusually enthusiastic roundup. It reflects what is being written about you elsewhere more than how you describe yourself.

Why competitors show a blank

The assistants report sentiment about the brand being asked about. There is no per-competitor equivalent in what we receive, so we leave those cells empty rather than inventing a number. A blank you can trust beats a figure you cannot.
